Gower sponsors visit of best selling author
Gower Financial Services was the proud sponsor of one of the leading authors at this year’s highly successful Alderney Literary Festival.
Andrew Taylor, a bestselling crime and historical novelist, held his audience enthralled when he talked about his Ashes of London Restoration series, based on the Great Fire of London and its aftermath, and the challenges of trying to construct a plausible fictional narrative involving historical characters.
Andrew has a Channel Islands connection in that he has written TV storylines for the Bergerac series set in Jersey.
He has won the Diamond Dagger of the Crime Writers Association, the Gold Crown of the Historical Writers Association, and many other awards. He has written over 50 books, including children’s and young adult books, novellas and short stories, three of which have been televised.
"We were delighted to be involved in another successful Alderney Literary Festival this year,” says Gower Associate Director Paul McCormick who was there to meet the author and listen to his fascinating presentation.
“The session was packed with locals and visitors and it was great to see the island busy with visitors across the weekend. This event continues to attract good numbers and it can only be positive for the island to have a growing, popular literary festival early in the season.”
More than 600 people in total mingled with established and debut authors who all have high praise for the island’s relaxed and generous atmosphere and a community with a taste for great historical writing and the arts in general.
