Gower Announced as New Sponsorship Partner for Guernsey Cricket's Women and Girls Programme
Gower have been unveiled as the new name on the Guernsey Women’s green shirt and title sponsor of Guernsey Cricket’s Women and Girls Programme. The deal, agreed earlier in the year coincides with Guernsey Cricket appointing Hannah Eulenkamp as the Women and Girls Development Officer. The next couple of years will see a real push in this area to build upon the recent Inter Insular successes the Women have had and create a long term platform for the Women and Girls game.
This year the Women are competing in the Carey Olsen Junior League Division 1 and will be in Jersey on 25th and 26th June to defend the T20I Inter Insular Cup, playing a three match series.
Key goals for the Women and Girls Programme are;
- Establish a regular programme of competitive cricket (Pairs) within Junior and Secondary Schools
- Create a Women’s Domestic League and in time a CI League
- Gain a T20 Global Ranking
Mark Latter Guernsey Cricket CEO said; “we are delighted to be working with Gower and welcome their support at such an exciting time for the Women and Girls game. We have lots of ideas and plans to build upon and the support of Gower will be crucial in delivering on these.
Gower's Paul McCormick said “this is an exciting time for Women & Girls cricket as participation numbers increase globally. Gower are keen to help develop the game locally over the coming years to build domestic competition and international recognition.”
The Guernsey Women are playing this Sunday 12th June in the Junior League and this will be followed by The Queen’s Baton Relay coming to KGV as part of the build up to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in July. You can come down and see the Baton between 12.30pm and 3.30pm and the Guernsey Cricket Roadshow will be set up to have a go on alongside a BBQ.
