Gower Bakers go Purple to support Polio campaign
Some of the team at Gower have taken to their kitchens to bake up a storm in support of The Rotary Club of Guernsey's 'Eliminating Polio' Campaign. This campaign has a target of £40,000 and Rotary Guernsey has currently raised over £37,500 towards it. The Guernsey Overseas Aid Commission will match Rotary's fund raising up to the £40,000 target and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundations has pledged to add £2 for every £1 raised. This means that this campaign will raise £240,000 just by reaching its £40,000 target!
To help with this effort, two bakers from Gower, Rosemary Perkins and Lisette Wakeford, pictured, baked a wide range of delights from sausage rolls to banana bread donuts and Purple Lavender Muffins, in keeping with the purple theme of the day. In addition, all staff were encouraged to wear purple casual clothes to add to the fund raining effort.
The Gower Group are delighted to support this important cause in the effort to find a cure for Polio.
