Gower Investment Managers ranked 'Top Recommended' in Guernsey

This week Spear's released the 2022 edition of the Spear's Wealth Management Index and we are very proud to announce that Gower's very own wealth investment team have been ranked 'Top Recommended' for the best wealth managers in Guernsey. Many congratulations and thank you to Toby Birch and Gemma Watson!

Toby Birch has more than 25 years’ experience as an investment manager and runs the in-house portfolios for Gower Financial Services’ discretionary and advisory clients. He was an adviser in London where he was a fund manager at Old Mutual International before he transferred to the firm’s Guernsey offices. He left for Julius Baer on the island and later became a hedge fund manager at a private family office. Toby joined us in 2017, attracted by Gower's independent approach and personalised solutions.

Gemma Watson, a Durham University business finance graduate, is a chartered wealth manager with close to two decades of experience in portfolio management. She began her career at Credit Suisse in 2003 where she swiftly climbed the ranks from manager to head its Channel Islands fund research and portfolio management offering in 2011. She was appointed as vice president in 2014 and continued within the role for four years. She then joined Gower Financial Services as an investment manager in 2018 where she currently focuses on researching new investment opportunities for clients within our boutique offering. Additionally, her role also covers fund analysis and researching the firm’s existing holdings. Gemma is also a fellow of the CISI, as well as a holder of the institute’s diploma and a statement of professional standing, which allows her to provide clients with investment advice.

Spear’s publishes annual rankings of the top private client advisers and service providers to HNWs and UHNWs. These are drawn up on the basis of peer nominations, client feedback, telephone and face-to-face interviews, data supplied by firms, as well as information gathered by the Spear’s editorial and research teams.
