2024 Gower Sunrise Walk of Hope

For the second year running, we were proud title sponsor of the Sunrise Walk of Hope, raising funds and awareness for Guernsey Mind, an amazing charity doing extremely important work for mental health in Guernsey. It was an early start for 739 people, but we got to see the beautiful sunrise along the way!

"We're deeply honored to support the Sunrise Walk again," says Gower's Hannah Hurley. "Seeing the community come together, sharing stories and supporting one another, is truly inspiring."

Vive La Vallette kindly arranged hot drinks and pastries at the end of the walk while the Co-op donated fruit.

“We’re really pleased to be involved with this special event again," said Helen Bonner-Morgan from Vive La Vallette. "It has become such an important community event. A team from the Girls Guides helped us with serving the refreshments, and we couldn’t have done this without their help.”

The Gower Sunrise Walk of Hope aims to raise awareness around suicide and support Guernsey Mind's ongoing work regarding suicide preventative training. The Walk is just over 5k and begins at 4am from Vale Castle. Participants walk at their own pace along the east coast to the Bathing Pools. We start the walk just before sunrise, so begin in darkness and walk into the rising sun. This is a path that Guernsey Mind want to help people in suicide crisis take. Going from a dark place into hope and light through support and assistance of a network of people.
